The Hemlock Bluff Trail is a loop trail that travels through a mixed forest to a great lookout with a view of Jack Lake. The trail climbs slowly to the lookout, descends to the shore of Jack Lake and another small lake and then climbs slowly as it returns to the trailhead. The trail takes 1.5 hours to complete (despite what the information at the trailhead suggests). The trail is not as popular as others in Algonquin Park and therefore is much quieter than the other busy trails.
Hemlock Bluff Trail is located at kilometre 27 of Highway 60 which crosses the southern part of Algonquin Park.

UpsideI'd give it 4-stars for trail conditions (high and dry compared to some other HWY 60 hikes) and you do get the great views as you round a bluff next to the lake. Great big trees to marvel at, and as the author of this post suggest -- not many other people -- even on a busy Sunday afternoon as we stopped for this. DownsideNone -- but we went in mid-August when the bugs weren't bad at all. CommentHighly recommend this hike I am not sure it took us more than an hour. At 3.5 km, it's short, but the trail does gain and lose some elevation, making it perfect for families -- and those wishing for a stop at the lake for a swim / lunch. Not a bad hike at all.
