Brother's creek is a great North Shore Hike, where you'll still find large cedar Groves somehow untouched by the logging of the North Shore earlier this century.

To get there, you've got to zigzag through the streets of West Vancouver. Take Taylor way north under the Upper levels Highway, then turn left on Southborough Drive. At Highland drive, bear left and continue on to Eyremont Drive, then turn left again. At Crestline, go right, then quickly turn left at Henlow. Look for Millstream Road, turning right on it and looking for the yellow gate which is your access. Park nearby. Walk along fire access road until you cross the Baden Powell Trail, turn left, and go right a few hundred meters later. Continue on this access route towards our waypoint 11.

A possible shorter access (which is shown in our map from points 1 to 8) is to park near waypoint 1, at the intersection of Chartwell, Eyremont, and Millstream, then follow the access road up to the Baden Powell trail intersection with Brother's Creek trail. When you get to Brother's creek trail, follow the waypoints in a loop, returning via the Baden-Powell trail on the Western side. Lower portions are fine in winter, however, you'll encounter lots of snow in winter, and, a lot of mud in early Spring.

UTM of trailhead above is waypoint 8 on map, where Brother's Creek trail intersections Baden Powell trail, this is another trail reference point. Note, you can download the text file with waypoints, click on "view/download GPS".

Downside no lookouts if you turn around at the bridge across the creek. best to save this one for a cloudy day. Comment we did this trail in mid-may 2009 and hit snow about halfway up. it was still a lot of fun, but you should prepare to step into the occasional deep spot of snow or mud, so dress appropriately.

It is all uphill and views of the creek (or of anything else other than trees) are few and far between. The trail is rough, rocky, and rooty, making the steep climb even worse. Comment The trail was so bad that I only hiked from Millstream Road to the second bridge that crosses the creek. Then I had to turn back far short of my Lost Lake destination because the trail was just too rough and steep to continue.

Close to Vancouver and short, still easily doable if you do get a somewhat later start. Comment Hiked it in late spring, only a few muddy spots. We enjoyed it very much,it is definitely recommendable if you look for an easy to moderate hike.

Downside Walking up the old fire road - the trail on the west side is nicer terrain Comment Did this in late Dec 02 - some snow on the trail but NTD to walk on - there are a number of loops that you can do - part of the Brothers Creek Forestry Heritage Walk.
If you proceed as far as the 3rd bridge don't forget to check out the falls on Brother's Creek.
There are also a number of bike trails etc branching off the fire road in either direction with stunts etc.
Use only if you are an expert rider.
