Trailhead: UTM 10U WGS84 0615695 e 5470213 n, lat/long: N 49?22.416? W 121?24.376?
Located in the Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park, this trail passes through a cool, quiet, wooded area leading to the Othello Quintette Tunnels. A popular Hope attraction, the tunnels were built between 1911 and 1916 as part of the Kettle Valley Railway. The tunnels provided the backdrop for the movie, Rambo: First Blood.
This trail is flat and wide, making it ideal for biking. There are few obstacles or challenges and lots of great views and mountain terrain on either side.
Directions:
Head east on Wallace St. Turn right on Sixth Ave. Cross the railway tracks and turn left on Kawkawa Lake Rd. Turn right before the cemetery onto Kettle Valley Rd. Park at the end of the dirt road.Directions:

QuestionKVR and a hybrid mnt/road bike?Hey all!
I've got a Rocky Mountain Whistler hybrid - front suspension, seat suspension, mountain bike frame .. but with 700 x 32 wheels. I intend to put heavier duty treads on the bike, and of course extra tubes, patches and tools, but I would like to bicycle as much of the KVR as possible (starting in Hope) for my trip back home to Ontario.
I'm looking for any advice as to what parts of the KVR are rideable with such a bike, and more importantly, which I should definitely avoid!
Thanks everyone!

UpsideThe tunnels are a great spot to get engaged!
DownsideThere is some potential for dropping a valuable ring through a bridge deck (didn't happen).
CommentThe tunnels can and usually are closed during the winter months due to the potential for falling rock and ice. Ground water flow through the rock and therefore the tunnel roofs is plentiful.

UpsideHistoric information on the building of this section of the Kettle Valley line. Easy riding but will be busy on weekends and when the tour bus arrive.
DownsideNone on this trip.
CommentDid from the town of Hope - well marked through town and onto the Tunnels - I combined it with the Nicola trail option for a partial loop - see comments there.

UpsideNice wide trail with gentle inclines. Good for a family outing
DownsideCan be busy on the weekends when parking is at a premium.
CommentI got bored one day and made the 3 hour drive to Hope to take the dog for a walk. The tunnels are interesting because of their history - look for the dates stamped into the side supports. I found the views of the river fantastic so bring a camera. Once you complete the tunnel section the trail flattens out and takes you through a forested area. As the trail is an old railway right-of-way, there is no hard climbing which makes it good for people of all ages.
