Osprey's Atmos 50, 65 and the Aura 50, 65 are multi-day / extended trip backpacks recently tested by trailpeak reviewers. This series of packs - the Aura being women's specific - have the same features, with the Atmos 65 in particular going under test on the West Coast Trail. These multi-day trekking packs feature the latest innovations that Osprey has refined over the years; comfortable and shaped shoulder straps, stow on the go pole system, hydration bladder compartment, lightweight but rigid design suspended for air-flow, water resistant fabric and zippers on pockets, and so much more. As you read the reviews, you'll see some common themes, Osprey is a favourite at Trailpeak -- and when combined with other lightweight gear this generation of packs make a large difference in weight and comfort for the multi-day hiker and backpacker.
Better yet -- premium trailpeak members have a chance to win one on August 7th, 2012!!! (An Atmos 50 or Aura 50 -- as equivalent packs for men or women, winner chooses a new Osprey pack for some great August and Fall hiking, note: the Aura isn't fluorescent purple as in the pic)

Atmos 65 extended hiking | | I am very impressed by Osprey and the Atmos 65. The pack is sturdy, but extremely light. The mesh frame allows it to hold its shape, keeping it off your back and allowing plenty of ventilation. I tested this pack on the West Coast Trail under wet and dry conditions. 7 days of hiking along beach, boulders, forest trail, and at times endless mud pits put me and the Atmos to the test. It was an ideal size for this type of trip as I was able to carry almost all of my gear internally, with only my thermarest strapped outside. The multitude of external pockets – particularly the stretch pocket on the front were useful for easy access items. Throughout the trek the pack was pretty comfortable and it was easy to adjust the straps to redistribute the weight. ... | | read our review | | more from vendor
Atmos 50 hiking / overnight | | The Atmos line 50 at just over 3 lbs is the evolution of Osprey's lightweight hiking packs. That's the thing about Osprey, they are always improving and innovating. Compared to the Osprey Exos 46 which I reviewed some years ago, the Atmos 50 is almost as light but has a more rugged and supportive hip belt, several fabrics all of which are purposed, and lots of compartments that you typically find on Osprey. As the name implies Atmos 50 has a capacity of 50L volume, suitable for backpacking trips especially when combined with other lightweight gear. Combining this pack with other ultra-light camping gear (which you will pay for) could lose 20 lbs off the typical fastpack / multi-day adventure for serious enthusiasts who go the extra mile to cut weight on sleeping pads, bags, stove, tent, and food. | | read our review | | more from vendor
Aura 50 Women's Overnight / Extended | | The Aura 50 is the women's version of the new Atmos 50 reviewed above. It's a more compressed design with the same features, it just fits a woman's torso better. The same AirSpeed suspension and design, but a more curved harness and hipbelt that's friendlier to the hips. The rest of the features, the water resistant zippers, the stretch fabric for pockets / pouches, compartments, and function can be found in the Atmos 50 reviewed by Kurt. You can find this pack on sale under $150, it's a very evolved pack design ... | | read our review | | more from vendor
