Happy New Year - 2010!

From all the volunteers at Trailpeak that keep the site running, and from myself, the founder of the site back in 2001 -- a heartfelt Happy New Year and thankyou. In 2009, a ton of trails were added, making Trailpeak Canada's largest free trails site. Run by Canadians, we're one of the few Canadian trail web sites that stand up to Silicon Valley and other US efforts, and, we're very proud of that. Together, users and editors have added close to 10,000 trails to Trailpeak, and all are free. So are the features to save a trail to your wishlist, or, check local weather, or get directions to the trailhead, or the google maps based on GPS data. GPS data itself is free if you add some, and we encourage that.

We also have two ways that users who feel trailpeak has helped them can give back to us. One, is simply our premium membership where you get in on monthly gear draws, and, the other, is to purchase GPS download credits if you don't have any GPS data to give. These two items help us offset hosting costs. To those who subscribed last year, a big thankyou. You help keep the site running.

Canadian terrain is exciting terrain, from the coast of B.C. to the Yukon, the mountains of Quebec, and the wild frontier that can still be found in Newfoundland. Canada is a great place to ski, hike, bike, canoe, sea kayak, climb, and just be outdoors for whatever reason.

Here's to a successful 2010 for you and I hope your trail dreams come true in 2010. What's in store for trailpeak? More of the same, a few trips out east so stay tuned for some great Newfoundland content, and, hopefully, you'll all continue to add your trails. By doing that, you open up new adventures for others just like yourself. As always, send us your feedback, we'll try to incorporate your good ideas.

Happy New Trails Year.
