Regarding trail Ha Ling Peak near Canmore, AB

Has anyone been up there in the last week or so? I want to take some friends that are fairly inexperienced and would likely not be comfortable with ice and lots of snow on the summit.

< BR>Funny you ask! I literally just finished this trail about 45 minutes ago. The trail is very icy with packed with snow for the first quarter of the hike (and mucky and muddy). I would caution against using the trail without crampons. Half way up and for the remainder of the trail is snow (packed down but slippery and slushy). The last part to the saddle is bare and dry. Final ascent to the summit is also bare and dry. Without good footwear and crampons id say wait about a month.

< BR>Right, crampons/micro-spikes would be a definite asset.
