Hi there fellow hikers!
I am taking a friend new to hiking out to ha ling peak this week. I have yet to do this trail. Are good shoes appropriate or should I recommend hiking boots? Do you need poles?
Thanks so much!!

< BR>You can do it with runners and without poles, as long as there's no snow at the top (there wasn't any there yesterday, except small patches). However, hiking shoes and poles will definitely make the trip more pleasant. And if there's a lot of snow when you go, this is a real mountain, so microspikes may be necessary.
