Amelia Earhart Park is a 515-acre (208.41 ha) urban park in metropolitan Miami, just north Hialeah, Florida. It offers a number of recreational attractions like bike trails, skateboarding, and fishing.
The park offers 8-mile (13 km) of bike trails. They include single track and fire road trails with a number of climbs, downhills, and banked corners.
Genesis Mountain Bike Rentals just opened at Amelia Earhart Park. It will be open weekends from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. They offer high end Trek 4500 Mountain Bikes with disc brakes (helmet is included with the rental). Rates are $25/1.5 hrs, $30/2hrs or $35/3hrs.
The mountain bike trails are great for introducing someone to the sport, or for doing a quick loop or two. These trails are less difficult than the trails at Oleta or Markham - it's mostly smooth singletrack riding through tunnels of deadfall and underbrush, with small technical sections and minor hills interspersed throughout. If you've never done this before, however, those "minor hills" will give you quite a workout. The group in charge of this trail has also added a small expert section called "Little Razorback," referring to the well-known Razorback Trail outside of Ocala, FL. This section features some tall, steep whoop-de-doos and difficult ridge riding.
