A good bike ride along 37 Mile Creek with views of the Sifton range, but only suitable during dry weather as the old road becomes very muddy and slippery in the rain.
The old road goes to wetlands via mixed forests and to a ridge overlooking the valley, and finally ends at 37 Mile Lake.
Start biking on a wide gravel road with a washout to 37 Mile Creek. Look left and cross the footbridge in the trees. Continue to fork and keep left. The next 11k follows east of the creek and keeps climbing until a nice viewpoint is reached. You will see a few hunting camp remains nearby.
The soft trail now descends and the creek is crossed on a few logs and planks and then swing right. In another mile you come to a T intersection, turn right (left road goes uphill to a hunting camp, creek and towards the cliffs of the mountain above the lake). The lake is reached in another km by a swampy area and campsite. Walk on a muddy path and via bush to the left to see the lake better. Can only reach the lake's edge in late fall when the marsh is frozen.
Directions:
Drive 47 km past Whitehorse on the Alaska hwy. Pass over the Takhini river bridge and see a Caution Elk sign in 3km. Turn right just before the sign to a narrow dirt road. You can drive about 2km on this road unless it is too rutted. Pass under powerlines and come to a T-intersection. Park here and start the trail by turning right on this gravel road.
