Akshayuk Pass (formerly called Pangnirtung Pass) in Ayuittuq National Park on Baffin Island is a 105-km long hike along a spectacular valley between Qikiqtarjuaq and Pangnirtung. The Pangnirtung valley is lined with shear-faced mountains including one of the world's tallest rock cliffs (Mount Thor). There are also hanging glaciers and plenty of wildlife, including the occasional polar bear. One word of caution...do not take the stream crossings lightly.
Directions:
Fly from Ottawa thru Iqaluit to Qikiqtarjuaq. Hire an outfitter to take you to the trail head (2 hours by boat). Make sure you pre-book an outfitter in Pangnirtung to pick you up at the southern end of the trail.
