Ancil Hoffman County Park is home to Sacramento County's only nature center, the Effie Yeaw Nature Center. It has ancient oaks and is bordered on two sides by the American River. there are reconstructed Maidu Indian homes at the nature center. There are acres of hikeing and jogging trails in the park and the Effie Yeaw Nature Center. Interactive exhibits. There are huge playing fields for kite flying and sports. Equestrian trails and a reservable horse arena. The Ancil Hoffman Golf Course is one of the best golf courses and has full ammenities. Riverside picnic area is a first-come, first-served basis. No glass. Dogs must be kept on leashes. The park is open from sunrise to sunset 365 days a year.
Directions:
2850 San Lorenzo Way, off Tarshes Drive in Carmichael.
The nature center is inside the park. You can get into the park a lot of different ways but the only way to the nature center is by Tarshes Drive.
From Davis or Downtown Sacramento:
Take I-80 east towards Sacramento
Take Highway 50 east
Take Watt Avenue North Exit
Turn right on Fair Oaks Blvd.
Turn right on Van Alstine Ave.
Turn left on California Ave.
Turn right on Tarshes Drive (entrance to Ancil Hoffman Park)
Go past kiosk, continue on Tarshes Drive to stop sign
Turn left at stop sign (San Lorenzo Way) and continue to Nature Center
