Explore the ruins of a turn of the century coal mine along a 1.1 km loop trail. The foundations of several mine buildings, a briquette plant, a coal shuttle train, piles of coal tailings, and interpretive displays in the old transformer building tell the story of Bankheads boom and bust. The trail starts in Lower Bankhead parking lot on the east side of the Lake Minnewanka Road, 7.4 km north from the town of Banff.
