The Barton Creek Greenbelt is located very near the heart of downtown Austin. Extending westwardly and south from Zilker Park, the greenbelt is a great place for a wide range of activities. It is great for mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, taking a swim or walking your pooch. Maintained by the city's parks and recreation deparment, there is no cost for access to the greenbelt, but it is closed during the nights, from 10 PM until 5 AM. The weather is usually great, and the people around Austin are quite friendly. With the Barton Creek Greenbelt being so close to the city, this is truly a jewel.
