Blue Diamond Hill is within the Red Rock Conservation Area just to west of Las Vegas. At the final destination end where you are atop a cliff of 500 feet overlooking the entire valley. All of the casino resorts are lined up in the middle. In the distance you can see light colored shores of Lake Mead in Arizona 40 miles away.
Directions:
Take Charleston Rd westward. Keep going until you are past I-215 and in about 3 miles you will see the welcome sign to Red Rock Conservation Area. On the left side, about 3 miles further, is a parking lot with a wooden sign labeled "Horse Trails". The entire area has many trails that are used for hiking, bike riding and horse back riding. The easiest trail to follow is to take an immediate right after the gate. It path will meander up the hill intersecting with other trails. While there is no one single way to get there, the best advice it is to keep following one upwards. Eventually, you will get to the top. It is really cool both visually and figuratively. When I was there in mid-April, the wind on top kept us quite cool. I would imaging that watching the lights of the casino resorts at night would be awesome. To get back down follow the same path or trail system allows for a loop that will eventually get you back to the parking lot.
