UpsideGreat views of Assiniboine from the summit.
DownsideToo many people stop at Bourgeau Lake.
CommentIf you only plan to go as far as Bourgeau Lake you're wasting this time with this hike. It's an average lake in an nice valley but the real prize is just a little further at Harvey Pass. The trail to Harvey Pass is an easy hike with only a couple steep sections that you can take your time with. From Harvey Pass you get views of Assiniboine beyond Sunshine village. If you started early enough it's worth pushing on to the summit from here. It's not difficult as there is virtually no loose rock and isn't steep at all. It will make for a long day but the views from the summit are even better.

UpsideNot crowded. Awesome Views of the Bow Valley, Sunshine Village, and Mount Assiniboine.
DownsideNo pain, no gain. The hike from Bourgeau up to Harvey Lake is tough.
CommentIt is a steady uphill climb all the way up to Bourgeau Lake, which is pretty nice, but you really get the bang for your buck if you push past the Lake up to Harvey Lake and the three other small lakes. The climb is tough up to Harvey Lake, but well worth it. It will take ~1 hr for this little stretch, and the view of Assiniboine is breath taking.
Was not able to make it to the Summit due to a late start, but will definitely try another time.
