Crystal & Maud Lakes are just South of and right about the
middle of 25 km long Burns Lake. Total distance to the end of Maude
is roughly 4km one way.
Put in at the Narrows on Burns Lk (there used to be a logging bridge across the 40' span). Paddle East (left) for about 1 km then right (S.) into a little bay. The portage to Crystal Lk is on the right & it's only about 100 ft long.
Once in Crystal look for the eagle's nest on the West (right) side for the portage to Maud Lk, again only about 100 ft.
In Maud there are some ribbons on the South West (left) corner. There are a lot of survey ribbons up, so route finding to Cliff Lk can be tricky.
It's a 1 1/2-2km up-hill hike to Cliff Lk and not really worth taking the boat. It is only a faint trail but does get better towards the lake.
These last 3 lakes are NOT accessible by foot from any roads. You have to paddle across Burns Lake to get to the trails.
To get to Burns Lake take Hwy 16 West from Prince George about 150 kms or so. East of Burns Lake, turn South at Linda's Gourmet Gifts (10km from town). Cross the train tracks then immediately go left around the barricade to the Narrows(200 ft).
