NTS Map:92K3. The Canyon View Trail is a 6 km loop along the Campbell River. You get to cross the Canyon on an 80 foot walkway. Other highlights include nice trees, whitewater rapids and in the fall spawning salmon. This is an easy loop on a well marked trail. Total time is just over an hour.

Directions:

The trailhead is at the John Hart Generating Station off Highway 28. Once you get into the parking lot, look for the signs pointing you in the right direction. To get there head towards Gold River and about 10 minutes out of Campbell River you will see a sign on right for the generating station.

Surprisingly, with this being within city limits the amount of people found hiking on any given day is quite few. Easy to enjoy the quiet scenery & varied riverside wildlife. Downside Lack of images showing the actual trail could be corrected. Might be useful as well to identify some of the plants and/or birds to be seen while hiking this area. Comment Further comments and information on the trail has been posted online at brucepaddle.com including a number of images taken during family hikes on this path in Campbell River. The image website imgur.com also has a number of image uploads from hikes on this trail in the recent past for a current view of the trail conditions. Also check on tumblr. com for info from northislandhiker.tumblr.com
Images from all seasons will be forthcoming from the above.
