Easy, scenic loop trails around 3 small lakes. Post-hike swims and roller coaster biking in the summer, as well as maintained ski trails (fee) in winter. The profusion of larch trees makes this an excellent fall destination as well.

Dogs welcome on leash.

The trails are well-signed and all pretty much hug the shores of their respective lakes. The easiest trail access comes from the day use parking area, at the west end of the beach. 3rd lake (the first lake you actually come across) is the most developed, with 2 beaches and several swimming rocks, with a 1.5km ring trail.

At the north end of 3rd lake, from the beach/playground - cross the road to recover the trail. A few hundred meters along there will be a junction, this is where the loop meets, you can follow the 2.5km trail around 2nd lake in either direction. 2nd lake is more 'natural' with marshy sections, boardwalks and old growth forest.

1st lake only has a trail skirting its east shore, but it is possible to walk a loop in order to reach the lake. One end of the trail can be accessed from the boat launch parking area at the northern tip, or across the outflow

creek at the nw corner. This loop is 2.5km and the least travelled of the 3.

If biking, all trails are well-maintained with short (3m) but challenging ascents over roots and rocks, and the boardwalks are a good intro to straight-riding for beginners. On bike, doing the entire circuit would take approx 1.5 hours - screaming down the trails is not a good idea, the strolling couples wouldn't appreciate it.

Directions:

From Trail head east on Hwy 3 (B), 6km from the village of Fruitvale, watch for the park turn-off on your left. Or, from east, 8km from the junction of hwy 3 and 3B.

The road to the park is 12km, paved. Once through park gates, left takes you to the day use lot, right to campground and boat launch.
