The trail ascends easily along Clark Brook, crossing it on bridges twice, and then enters the Breadloaf Wilderness. After crossing a small brook the trail becomes steeper and rockier before reaching its junction with the Long Trail at 3.0 miles. Mt. Roosevelt is 0.4 miles north on the Long Trail, and Mt. Wilson is 0.8 miles south on the Long Trail.
