This is a great beach to go kiting in the winter time. Be sure to avoid it in the summer as you won't even find a place to sit, let alone fly a kite. The beach sits right in the middle of Newport, containing views of nice sea cliffs and beautiful mansions. There are always dog walkers and lone wanderers even during the winter, however, so if you do choose to kite here, be wary of others. Also, you may want to check the tide schedule to be sure that you will have enough sand to fly bigger kites.
Directions:
From Thames Street in Newport:
Take a left to head east on Memorial Blvd. The beach will be the first beach that you see on the right hand side of the road. There is ample parking in the winter time, but it is rare in the summer.
