The trail is an ATV trail. It is pretty much uphill all the way and can be a short but tiring climb - but the vista at the top is more than worth it. At the top on the bluff you are at 1100ft and can see for miles (230 degrees)
You will literally feel like you are on top of the world.
The destination is at N 45° 38.9292 W 065° 25.073
From Sussex, make your way out to Waterford and take the Parlee Brook Rd. Once you arrive at "The Abbey" take the road before it called Arnold's Hollow Road. This road is a bit bumpy and washed out in spots.
Park at N45 39.156 W65 25.223. Take the trail up to Friar's Nose from here.
Directions, for those without a GPS:
Take Rte 121 (Main St.) through Sussex to Sussex Corner. At the intersection with Hwy 111, turn right onto Needle St. towards St. Martin's. At 0.5 km (0.3 mi), bear left (don't go towards St. Martin's). The road at this junction becomes Dutch Valley Rd., and eventually Waterford Rd. From this junction, go 5.4 km (3.3 mi), then turn right on Parlee Brook Rd. Follow this road for 4.7 km (2.9 mi), then turn right up Arnolds Hollow Rd. Proceed up this road for 1.1 km (0.7 mi), to the top of the hill. The trail head will be on your left.

UpsideGreat view, a great deal of other sights to see nearby DownsideATV trail, threatened by logging CommentIf you want a great challenge head further along the road to a place known locally as Hidden Valley. Some great ravines to explore here and a natural land bridge. It is an awesome area.
