Gadd’s Harbour
If you are visiting Gros Morne with only a limited amount of time to paddle, a great route to try is Gadd’s Harbour, across from the community of Norris Point.
You can put in at a small beach near the Marine Station in Norris Point and quickly cross the ½ km to Gadd’s Point, just across the area of Bonne Bay known as “The Tickle”. Gadd’s Point was once inhabited by fisherman and features beaches on both sides of the small peninsula. The cove situated on the backside of the point in Gadd’s Harbour is very sheltered from the prevailing south-west wind and is a great place to practice up on your skills. The water here often warms up to 15 degrees by late summer.
From Gadd’s Harbour you can follow the shore along the East Arm of Bonne Bay to Shag Cliff. This 600 foot cliff is a great place to explore some of the unique geology of Gros Morne National Park. If you have the time you can paddle 2km into Deer Arm for a great view of Gros Morne Mountain.
This is a very safe and scenic place to paddle that can often feature an abundance of sea life including dolphins and whales during the summer months. It is a great short route that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Gros Morne Adventures in Norris Point offers rentals and guided tours from their headquarters in Norris Point.

Drive to the end of the road at Norris Point and put in at the small gravel beach adjacent to the marine station.
