Description

After a gentle climb through rainforest the trail crosses Asulkan Brook, and then turns left for the climb up a switchback trail. Hikers should be careful in determining if conditions are acceptable for getting to the crest. Be careful in choosing a route if attempted (2255m), as the ridge is actually an arĂȘte. Great views. 3.5 hrs is uphill, 2 hrs back. Trailhead is at Illecillewaet Campground.

Downside Large elevation gain for short trail, and all of it in last 3 km. Comment I did this hike on probably the hottest afternoon of summer 2003. Definitely carry water, as last reliable water source is off a switchback about 1/2 km past the Asulkan Brook bridge. First 3 km is well built trail with good steady grades, last 2 km is quite rocky and rooted, and much steeper. Small meadows area on top of ridge. Views are great, as are all others in area.
