This ridge walk trail offers unobstructed views of Newport Cove and on a clear day visibility can exceed 15 miles on the Atlantic. There are plenty of spots to veer off the trail and stop for a picnic lunch or for photo opportunities. Adventurous families should take advantage of this very accomplishable trail for all ages.
Directions:
Park at Sand Beach parking lot and hike the half mile bowl trail to the trail head to Gorham Mountain. The trail ends near Monument Cove. For the return trip there is a bus at Thunder Hole or you can walk the 0.7 mile Ocean Path, which is a paved walk along the ocean cliffs.
