Located in the centre of Surrey, Green Timbers park is an urban forest with lots of trails etc to keep you walking or biking for a few hours. On this particular trip I biked down the Birch Trail past Green Timbers Lake, crossed 96th Ave and followed a number of trails in that area. Then the rain started so I returned to my starting point by following the Salal Trail to Cedar Trail and back past the lake to the entrance off of 100th Ave.
There are more trails on the north side of 100th that are a little less developed but still very enjoyable. The bikers are supposed to remain on the gravel trails but there were lots of tire treads on the other trails. There are a couple of creeks within the park and some bridges crossing them. Trails from the park connect to the Surrey Greenway system that follows along the Hydro right-of-way.
Directions:
Main entrance, parking and seasonal wash-rooms are located off of 100th Ave between 144 and 148 Street. There is also a trail-head at 96th and the Fraser Highway--just look for the Urban Forest sign (but parking is limited here).

UpsideA place to escape in the middle of a city, good trails for the whole family. There is a small lake in the middle where one can fish, and benches to rest.
DownsideThe forrest is split into 3 by two major roads (100 ave and 96 ave)
CommentEach portion of the forrest has its own uniqueness, and if you look hard enough, there are several hidden trails to explore.

UpsideNice forested park right in the middle of Surrey, but it doesn't feel that way.
DownsideThe mulch on some trails hides tree roots so you have to be careful, especially when biking.
CommentI would rate this trail as easy, not average. Don't expect to do an extended walk or hike here because there are not that many trails. Also, there is no elevation to speak of, so I find it a great place for trail running.

UpsideThis is a a great park which offers a range of trails for walkers and bikers alike in a densely wooded area. The wide gravel paths for those that feel more comfortable in open spaces and many natural trail paths in between with lot's of twists and turns. The man-made lake is a geat haven for all kinds of wild life. There are several park benches to alow you to sit and enjoy the view from just about every angle.
DownsideYou can get disoriented in the trails if your not careful. Be sure sure to look a the map at the north side entrance. It is basically a large matrix of paths.
CommentThis is a great park right in the center of Surrey. You can lose yourself in the trails and feel as though you were no where near civilization. The trails are generally easy enough for whole family to enjoy. I highly recommend it.
