LARGER MAP

Description

NTS Map:083f04

Elevation Gain: ~500 m (1,640 ft).

The 4km trail to High Pass on the eastern boundary of Jasper National Park is used primarily by wardens running patrol during hunting season. It was thickly over grown when I went up it and was difficult to follow.

From the marked intersection with the Fiddle-Mystery Connector the trail climbs through thick bush, crossing the creek numerous times on it's way up to the pass, gaining almost 500m in elevation on the way. Good route finding skills are required.

Ridge walks from High Pass, south to the base of Slide Mountain or north over the summit of Mount Drinnan are very straight forward. I have talked to people who gained the same ridge from Mystery Lake, meaning that these two trails can be combined with good route finding skills.
