The Hopewell Swinging Bridge Trail is located in the village of Hopewell, Pictou County. There is a short walk through the main part of the park that includes a no longer used baseball field and an old stage. You follow along the East River and enter a wooded trail. It is only a short walk until you reach the swinging bridge. There is a plaque and a story explaining the bridge and it is considered a heritage site. It is a quick trip but easy to do with children (who usually find great joy from the bridge).

Directions:

From New Glasgow take the 374 South (Stellarton Road) through New Glasgow, Stellarton and Riverton. Roughly another eight kilometers and you will come the village of Hopewell. Take a left on Elgin Road and you will soon come to the park on your right. There are also apparent waterfalls downstream of the bridge on Elgin Road.
