Elevation Gain: 296 m (971 ft).
This is relatively easy hike to an active Fire Look that provides fantastic views of the Kananasksis valley and lakes.

Paved pull off on the west side of Highway 40 about 8km south of the gate into Peter Lougheed Prov Park.
Go around gate at pull off, over Pocaterra creek and head south following old fire road. Head south on trail known as Whiskey Jack.
It's a fire road and the lookout person does drive it on occasion

Upside
A not too difficult hike that provides access to an active fire lookout providing spectacular views of the area.
Downside
The hike is all uphill all the way

Upside
fantastic views of kananaskis lakes and area. spotted some whiskey jacks at the top and a ptarmigan on our way back.
Downside
only minor challenge was figuring out we had to park at the boulton creek trading post.
