The tallest Mountain of the Highlands just over 1100 feet. I really enjoy the Highlands for a quick hike for when I can't get out to bigger peaks. It feeds the need to get out. This trail is a forest of Oak and Pine which follows blue blazes. Go over the rock wall. You will find yourself descending to cross the Kennebec Highlands Trail. Then climb more steeply past some rock slabs and a large lichen covered boulder to the summit.
Directions:
RT 27 to Watson Pond Rd. Go past Frenchs, and Sanders Loop to the Round Top parking area about 3.5 miles from rt 27. Round Top is past the scenic Blueberry Hill lookout. Worth a quick stop.
