Killarney Lake is a little undeveloped section of Mount Work Park. There is a short trail that circumnavigates the lake and also connects to trails in the mountain bike area of the Park. Best access is from the trail head on Meadowbrook Road. The park is surrounded by private property, obey all signs.
From Victoria follow the Pat Bay Highway and take the West Saanich Road exit. From West Saanich Road turn left on Prospect Lake Road, then right on Meadowbrook Road.
There is side road off of Meadowbrook Road named Wildview where parking is tolerated on one side. Any parking past Wildview is prohibited and subject to towing.

UpsideGorgeous swimming hole in the summer, and bolted climbing routes and awesome bouldering along the west side. DownsideIt's a small area, but somewhat confusing. For some reason I always miss the beach access area on the south side on the first try and have to circle back. CommentI've never hiked in from the proper trail head, always cut along the power lines from the Mount Work Bike Trails parking lot and then down into the forest.

UpsideAn easy, enjoyable hike concluded with a beautiful view of the pristine, untouched Killarney Lake. Easily accessable by bike as well. DownsideA little too much private property surrounds it. Although it is all relatively low-key. CommentGreat destination for anyone who wants to get out for an easy hike or a picnic.
