Cross country skiing was practised on the mining exploration trails at the base of North Star Mountain for decades before the first specific nordic trail, Centennial, was constructed in 1967.

The Kimberley Nordic Club's 33 km trail network consists of a variety of double track set trails with centre skating lanes, the longest loop being 7 km, there are also 5 km and 3 km loops. There are also a variety of single track set secondary trails and a 3.3 km loop lit for night skiing. Trails range from easy loops such as Spruce and Centennial to advanced ones such as Cardiac Arrest, Roller Coaster and K-2 with many hills, up to 100 meters in size.

Night Skiing every night, all winter long - Dusk until 10:00pm!There is also a nice warm-up hut, with wood stove, drinking water, and free hot chocolate! There is a waxing bench and iron outside.

For more information on the Kimberley Nordic Ski Club check out the club's website.

Trails are open from around December 1 until mid-April. All natural snow, no need for snow-making here. Snow depth is at least 100 cm by January. Trails start at 1300 meters above sea level.

The ski trails also connect with the Kimberley Nature Park trails where you can find over 50 km of single track and another cabin with wood stove at Dipper Lake after about 2 hours of skiing.

By xtremepeaksPosted By: xtremepeaks  - Thu Dec 03 17:10:51 UTC 2009 Not Rated Upside Some good snowfalls lately and nice grooming made the trails be in excellent shape. There is a new skiers hut built, it is now open each day until 9pm. Very comfortable inside, relax by the wood stove and warm up. Downside Trail fees are $10 now, and people who dont pay will be charged with trespassing. Comment Dogs are not allowed on trails, and walking is not allowed, as people would destroy the groomed tracks.

There is one guy who comes skiing after 9pm with his dog, if you see him, call police. His license plate is 520 NDX and police will be called to get rid of him and charge him with trespassing.

There are new trails to use now, as some new tracks have been set in the areas that were logged.

By xtremepeaksPosted By: xtremepeaks  - Mon Oct 30 21:53:08 UTC 2006 Not Rated Comment Some trails here have changed quite a bit this summer due to ongoing logging operations to control fires and pine beetles.
Biking is not great until clean up is done, trails are a mess. Some new snow arrived now, once we have a good base to cover up the junk, then the skiing will be good.
