Just outside of Squamish, North of Vancouver, is the lake Lovely Water sub-alpine area, which is popular with advanced hikers and climbers alike. One of the most beautiful hikes in the region, once in the alpine, camping is available at the lake, with various day hikes and climbs available from there. The hike up the area is steep and difficult but well worth it. Make sure you are properly prepared for overnight hiking and are an experienced hiker before tackling this route. You might consider hiring a guide, if you are not an experienced hiker or climber, because it is truly a spectacular area that should be experienced. We've marked out the waypoints to help you locate the trail. Datum is WGS84. Note, the topo map for this region is NAD27, so use your GPS to convert these points to NAD27 if matching on your topo map.

QuestionPlanning on hiking in the end of July - can anyone comment on what condition the trail should be in ? Has it been flagged recently ? What are some good hikes once up there that do not include "gear" other than good hiking boots.
Thanks for you input.ANSWERS are in this forum: lake Lovely Water

QuestionSo myself and some friends are thinking of hiking into lake lovely water, leaving Sat coming back Sunday... Does anybody know if we need show shoes this time of year or is it more of a sprinkling we can walk on we should be expecting??
Also how difficult is it to actually find the trail once you are over the river... there are a couple of different accounts on line. Has anyone been there this year? How long does it actually take to hike to the hut again there are accounts anywhere from 4.5 hours to 20 hours... which seems totally ridiculous!! We will not be running up but we will not be taking any breaks either ... normal fit 30 year old pace... ANSWERS are in this forum: Lake lovely water this time of year??

UpsideBeautiful views, with many scrambling or climbing options accessible, this is an excellent place to camp for a few days worth of climbing.
DownsideThe approach is heinous, crossing the Squamish river can be difficult.
CommentI wouldn't recommend doing the Tyrolean traverse, for the effort it requires, you're better off getting the jet boat to ferry you across.

Upsideunbeleivable hike ,this place is pristine, sleeping at the falls at the west end is truly unforgetable
Downsidewent in by helicopter but you can't hike out from the westend of the lake ,you need a boat or get picked up again.unless you are prepare to go back around the mountian to the south ,you can not follow the lakeshore
