This is a beautiful paddle in every season. You will almost definitely come across some very friendly beavers that call the Mattaponi home. This paddle can be extended by taking side trips up neighboring creeks and near by Jug Bay. This is highly a suggested trip.
Directions:
US 50 to MD 301 South for about 15 miles, to the junction with MD 4. Take a left on Croom Station Rd. and follow for 1.6 miles. Take a left on Croom Rd for 1.5 miles. Take another left on Croom Airport Rd. Follow this road until it ends, continuing straight after the park entrance toward the group camp area (if you need to buy a permit, you should turn right at the sign for the park office before going to the landing). At the end of the road fork left toward Selby's Landing. The road ends in a small parking lot and the boat landing is at the bottom of the hill.

Questionfrom the launch at Selbys which way would I head to enjoy myself on what sounds like a nice paddle. Is this a round trip paddle or do we need a 2nd car placed somewhere and if thats the case what are the suggestions. where could i find some better maps of this paddle area? Any info appreciated that would help us enjoy a quick weekend in MD. ( We are starting in Dover DE visiting family going to Frederick MD ) just want some great ideas for paddling or not to miss doing thoughts. Thanks ChrisANSWERS are in this forum: Matiponi Creek, MD
