The Minuteman Bikeway is a paved pathway exclusively for bikers, joggers, and in-line skaters, that partially overlaps the route that Paul Revere rode during his famous jaunt. It's ends are in Cambridge and Bedford, although there are less formalized pathways that continue on through Somerville and beyond (on the Cambridge end) and to Concord (on the Bedford end. The pathway is cared for by the various cities and towns along its route. It has been wildly successful, and many improvements are reportedly in the works. There is even a plan to extend a bikeway all the way to Northampton in Western Massachusetts. The route is family friendly, but can get quite crowded during peak times. It's a nice ride, and a nice escape route from (or to) the city.
