There is some steep climbing and rocky terrain that give you some opportunities to climb the face of the mountain off trail. Lots of beautiful views of the Berkshires with a small waterfall about mid-way through the hike. A nice stream winds along slightly off the trail for part of the hike. This is a great hike for all ages and levels.
Directions:
Take 495 to the MASS PIKE to Exit 2 (Stockbridge). A left of the exit after toll then take your 1st right onto Rt. 102. Follow to Great Barrington and Monument Mountain is on the right.
