The Moose Lake Loop in Jasper National Park is a pleasant little walk through the forest to a charming lake.
From the parking lot head down to the shore of Maligne Lake and turn right. In quick order you'll pass two boat docks, the first is the public launch and the second belongs to the Warden Service. About 100m past the Warden dock you'll come to a signed junction, turn right and climb the gentle hill for 700m to the shore of Moose Lake. 300m beyond the lake the trail connects with the Maligne Pass Trail, turn right and go 700m to the junction with the Bald Hills Trail. Turn right one last time and head down to the parking lot 300m away.
Parks Canada produces a day hiking guide of this and many other trails in the park called "Summer Trails" which is available for free from the Jasper Information Centre in the Jasper townsite and the parks desk in the Columbia Icefield Centre.
As well, Parks Canada produces a trail guide of this and all other x-c ski trails in the Park called 'Winter Trails', which is available for free from the Jasper Information Centre in the town of Jasper.
