This trail is the easiest and most direct route to the summit of Mount Greylock. It might not be as pleasant during the rainy season because there are a lot of areas of mud patches. It is a wide trail and even children who are good hikers can do it! The difficulty level is moderate with strenuous condition towards the top. Cheshire Harbor Trail connects to the AT to reach the summit for an elevation gain of 1,940 feet. It is a great trail to spend an afternoon on and the views at the top are unforgettable!! The terrain is very "New England" and one can notice the change in vegetation as you climb.
Be sure to visit the "Suggested Hikes" section under Maps and Brochures on the DCR website for Mount Greylock State Reservation. You can combine the Cheshire Harbor Trail and Gould Trail all in one visit!
