Mount Misery is one of a few ice climbing and rock climbing destinations in the Saint John region. For ice climbing, it holds probably a dozen lines all ranging in the 12-14 meter range, and rated between a WI2 and WI4.
The routes I climbed were mainly composed of two tiers of ice. The first third being fairly easy, followed by the last two thirds being far more vertical and into the woods.
Anchors are a plenty, and there are options to simply top rope instead of leading, just watch what condition the ice is for sinking screws.
I mentioned kite boarding because of the lake. It's a vast open ice covered meca for wind powered fun.
For a full day of ice climbing, you might hit Hampton Marsh for the morning, and follow it up with a drive out to this destination. They're less than a fifteen minute drive away. The snowshoe in was about ten minutes, just off of Mount Misery Road, in through the woods, and down to the bottom of the ice runs.
Directions:
From Highway 1, heading toward Saint John, take the exit to route 119 through Quispamsis Blairs. Take the cable ferry (no charge) to Reed's Point, and head right on the 845 to Perry Point Road on your right. Follow it until you reach the opposite end of Mount Misery Road, and park at the unplowed lane. Gather your kit and snowshoe in. You'll reach a rustic "camp" overlooking the broad river. Descend past the edge into woods down and to the right.
