Start behind a huge boulder at the end of the highest parking area and continue up multiple switchbacks

until you reach the main trail to Mt. Whitney. Turn right and cross over to the other side of the Lone Pine

creek's north fork. Follow a climber's path through some shrubbery and up over some ledges marked with

cairns. At Lower Boyscout Lake go right and up a small gully then over a slab to the left. After this, hike

cross country toward the east face of Mt. Whitney. Climb the scree filled gulley located north of the

summit until you reach an obvious ledge system that leads to the summit plateau. Retrace your steps or

follow the main Whitney trail out.

Directions:

Take Whitney Portal Rd. from Lone Pine.
