Trail starts at NHSP parking area and ascends to summit in 1.1 miles. Total RT is 2.2 miles with various loops possible using other trails.
Trail gains about 1000 feet in the 1.1 miles to the summit. It is a consistent climb with no sustained steep sections.
Excellent 360 degree summit views to Presidentials, Vermont the seacoast. "Excellent bang for the buck". Pick a clear day and be prepared with proper gear as there is some exposure to the elements for the last .25 miles and while on the summit. Note to winter users: Full winter gear including mountain crampons are potentially necessary from early November on.
This is a heavily used trail network so please carry in and carry out as well as stick to the marked trail network.
Directions:
Route 118 from center of Canaan town toward Dorchester.
After .6 miles turn right on Cardigan Mountain Road and follow to another right onto Cardigan SP access road.
