This is the highest peak in the Capital Reigonal District. It affords beautiful, panoramic views. The GPS includes the main trail to the peak, a loop to Peden Lake, and a diversion to Grass Lake. The GPS also includes a 1.5km bushwacking path for the stuborn who want to head to the peak and don't want to retrace their steps after visting Grass Lake. This later "path" is not for the faint of heart.
The trail steadiy gains elevation. You will cross a few creeks over the course of the trip.
Direct path to the peak is around 14km. With loops, the trip is around 18km.
Directions:
Turn right off the highway between Victoria and Sooke unto Sooke River Road. The trail starts on your right after approximately 4km. Watch for a gate with a sign stating "no motorized vehicles."

UpsideNot far from the city and has some good views once you get to the top!
DownsideLong and boring with not much to see all the way to the top. The trail itself is a bit confusing with very little markers especially at the forks. If this is your first time, be prepared to get lost a time or two.
CommentWell, this was not our most exciting hike by far. The trail up is quite boring, with very little to get excited about. It does change once at the top, which is the best part of this hike! We posted a full review of this hike and more pictures on our website at goaroundglobe.com
