NTS Map:92B14. Also known as Jack Fisher Trail (this trail is on Saltspring Island - closest city being Victoria, the town on the Island is "Ganges"). Great Trail, Begining on Collins Road SSI, there are two trail heads, one closest to Ganges is the easy one, both aren't super easy. Steep sections are common, but there are many level stretches to catch your breath. One of the best views in BC, from the top one can see from Duncan all the way west to Chemainus, and north to Howe sound. Keep your eyes open near the top for the front door of the local Gnomes and Ferries. Keep the little ones busy looking for the actual Gnomes, but warn them Gnomes dont like noise they will steal their noses.
Take Rainbow Road from Ganges village, right to the end where Rainbow JCTs into Collins, follow Collins road for no more than 1km, keep your eye open for the minimally marked trail heads on the top side of the road. If you end up going to far relax at the Cranberry/ Baders Beach, one of the best swimming beaches in the Gulf Islands.

UpsideNot a post on this trail, but of Saltspring Island itself, a wonderful place even though it is getting busier, with condos going up (the old pub at Vesuvias now closed). Hike Mt. Maxwell as well, and, "Duck Pond" area for Salmon runs, and, half-a-dozen great beaches. DownsideTraffic, Saltspring is now the playground for millionaires and Saturday visitors checking out the "market" which is more of a mini-crafts fair but still pleasant. Great bakeries & coffee joints abound. CommentThe disc-golf course at Mouat Park on Saltspring is worthwhile, with some very large cedar and oak! Walk further past the 8th hole, into a myriad of trails that also wind up the ridge. If a round of disc-golf followed by a swim in Cusheon Lake, or perhaps a hike on one of several "mounts" doesn't get you unwound, take up shock therapy. There is even a VW repair place run by two Germans on the Island (yes many VWS live here) and, lots of relocated former Torontonians. Better check it out before it's developed. Still many hidden gems.

UpsideGood steeps to get the lead out. One of Saltsprings biggest arbutuses (arbuti?) are up here some where. There is a stone doggy dish at the top, so remember some water for fido, there are no natural water sources. When you get to the top, try to find the really nice grassy knoll, go south then west through some trees and you are there, nice private spot, then you can find the cool cave, go under the bluff you were just on and cirlcle it around to the north. It is a really cool cave. DownsideSeveral sections have loose gravel, be careful not to turn a your ankle Commentstay tuned, hopefully for some pictures.
