Relatively easy walking on wide paths with one very steep climb. Excellent views in all directions from the summit. Starting point for this hike is the Notch Visitor Center which houses a number of educational and informative displays about the Holyoke Range and its wild inhabitants. Maps can also be obtained here. Full details, map, and background history can be found in a wonderful local guidebook, "Hiking the Pioneer Valley" by Bruce Scofield.

Directions:

Starting point for this hike is the Notch Visitor Center is located in the middle of a pass (called the "Notch") in the Holyoke Range, between Amherst and South Hadley. Highly visible parking area is found on the eastern side of MA-116 at the height-of-land just before the quarry.
