This is a beautiful short loop in Rainier National Park. The trail starts at the Longmire Museum area. The first third of the loop is steap switch backs through the gorgeous forest of the lower part of Rainier. It crests to Rampart ridge where you can get beautiful vistas of the Rainier and surrounding mountains. Where the trail starts heading along the Rampart Ridge there is a really great flat rock to eat, rest and enjoy the views! The trail is very well maintained and is a soft bed of pine needles. Cross along Rampart Ridge until it intersects with the Wonderland trail and take Wonderland back down to Longmire. In June there was still a few feet of snow along the upper parts of the Rampart Trail and along the Wonderland trail where it had not melted yet. It is a great short hike that allows you to see the beautiful vegetation on Rainier and also get great views!
