Nice river to go down. This river can be very dangerous in the spring thaw or after a heavy rain. There are a couple of small challenging parts but for the most part a relaxing day in the canoe. We put in just beside Sparkling Springs factory and were able to take out at the NSAC fields. You will go past Irving Lumber Yard and the Farmers Cheese Factory.
Directions to the take out spot that we used:
From the Valley Cross road follow the Salmon River Road. You will cross a bridge over the river. Go past the Farmers Cheese Factory and the Fire Hall. There will be a street on your left called High Street, just across from the is an enterance to the NSAC fields. You can almost drive to the river (very soft in the spring) and leave a car there. it is a 6.7 Km drive.
Directions:
From the Valley Cross road follow the Salmon River Road and turn left onto Valleydale Road. Then turn left onto Valley Road just before the bridge. Drive up to Sparkling Springs Factory and you can park there, just make sure you are parked out of the way.
