LARGER MAP

Description

NTS Map: 082O04

Elevation Gain: 150 m (220m from parking lot)

Great downhill run with some technical sections and some pretty fast spots too. Good for all types of riders and capabilities.

NOTE: Upper and Lower Stoney Squaw are the only legal bike trails in the Mt. Norquay area.

Winter: This makes a great snowshow from the entrance of the Norquay parking lot up a nice little trial to the Stoney Squaw peak. A couple spots offer great views of the Bow valley though it is mostly through the trees.

Directions:

Follow the road up mt. Norquay till you reach the big gravel parking lot at the base of the ski resort. ride past the chalet and past the first chair lift untill you see a small sign marking the trail on your right.

Another (?) - Main (?) Trailhead is just at entrance to parking lot from Norquay Road. Look to the right as you come into the main parking lot for a little wooden bulletin board with a roof.

1) ride Lower stony trail (40 mile creek) which is accessed just below the the Spirit chairlift or...
2) Starting from the Norquay parking lot there is a trailhead leading to the stony squaw summit. It's only about 2.2 km of technical climbing up roots and rocks then a wicked descent. This links up with the lower Stony squaw trail.
Downside riding the norquay road is boring... but always lots of wildlife :)
Lots of bears around - make noise on the downhill
Comment I love this trail and it's worth the bike/hike up to the summit if you like XC riding and want to work on techy skills. I rode this in the rain and less of the climb was ridable as the roots were slick. I was happy to have leg armor as the rocks and roots were super slick in the rain.

Lower stony (accessed by the chairlift) is super fun, fast and flowy. It easier and less technical than the summit. Barely any climbing if you keep your momentum ... except the road ride up of course.

You can shuttle or if your brave pettle up Norquay. And if you don't feel like doing the whole trail you can start in the parking lot and just do lower stoney. Downside I don't think there is a downside. Beides if your doing upper stoney with a big bike it's a rough hike. Well it was for me it was my first downhill experience. Comment Now that I live in Langley I can't wait to get back to Stoney.

Comment fun trail for any level of rider.
