The short unofficial trail to Sunwapta Bluff is a fantastic early morning hike for people spending the night at Sunwapta Falls Resort (http://www.sunwapta.com/) or Honeymoon Lake c/g in Jasper National Park. Catch the view from the bluff as the sun is rising and the mountains across the valley may reflect an unforgettable purple-gold alpenglow for you.

Cross the Icefields Parkway from the upper access of the Sunwapta Falls Resort and look for an old rotten bridge across the ditch. The trail is swampy for the first 100m but it drys out as it gains elevation. Climbing steeply, the trail curves to the right then to the left and gains the bluff in 700m. The last time I went up there were numerous trees across the trail but they were easy to clamber over.
