Mostly paved "rail-trail" that starts in village of Waubaushene and runs relatively flat to the Wye River on the outskirts of the city of Midland. Just before the Wye River, the trail passes the Wye Marsh Conservation Area, and Saint Marie Among the Hurons, a functioning pioneer era village. From the Wye River, you may wish to continue along an existing hard-pack trail that runs along the edges of Midland Bay directly to downtown Midland. The Tay Shore Trail was officially opened in 2007 and as a result the surface is new and smooth. There are several wildlife and scenic lookout opportunities along the trail, with a 3km paved branch off the main trail heading into historic Port McNicoll. There are a number of locations along the trail to grab a drink or a bite to eat. In particular, the Quarterdeck Restaurant located in village of Victoria Harbour and Scully's Crab Shack located in downtown Midland offer great food and cold beverages on their respective waterfront patios.

I would highly recommend this trail to anyone looking for a leisure and scenic day ride in the Midland area.

There are several access points to the trail. The trail commences under the HWY 400 as it passes through Waubashene. From Hwy 12 and the Hwy 400, take Pine Street appox 0.5km to Coldwater Rd. Turn Right on Coldwater Rd, and the trail head is approximately 0.5km. Parking is available via the road shoulder. Another access point can be reached via Hwy 12 and the Wye River. Parking is available in a public parking lot located beside the river and directly off the Hwy.
