Riding just Telegraph Canyon is nice and easy, pretty flat on a fire road. The route that I rode included riding the South Ridge Trail which is also a fire road but has some rolling hills with many short climbs and great views of North Orange County. The last section of the ride drops back down to Telegraph Canyon, it is a 1 mile long single track or you can keep riding East on South Ridge which will hook up with Telegraph Canyon.
Directions:
57 Freeway in Brea, exit at Lambert (90), drive East.
Lambert turns into Carbon Canyon Road (142)
2.2 miles down on the right side is Carbon Canyon regional park, $3 to park in the park (automated machine, need singles or coins) or park out along the highway.
Trail head is out the east end of the park. Ride along Carbon Canyon Road about 100 yards and enter through a gate.
