While walking along Richmond Road photographing some of the street art (fire Hydrant Statues) I noticed an interview being conducted in front of this building. I stopped and asked. It was a CTV crew doing a documentary on the original CTV building in Ottawa. This is in West Wellington, close to Bayview as Richmond turns into Somerset, and not far from where my Grandfather ran a furniture store in the 1940s and 1950s. The building is significant along with other "original" business locations in the area dating back to the 1940s. If anyone has anymore information on this locale, or had worked here, and has images, please post. The gentleman being interviewed was likely a news anchor of the day, however, the name escapes me. CTV Ottawa celebrated 50 years in 2010, making for a 1960 start. When I asked the TV crew what the building also was before they took over, they weren't sure, they talked about a bakery afterwards, and some other tenants. If I am not mistaken, my mother talked about a printers being located here, I will check again.
Directions:
Richmond Rd. as it turns into Somerset, driving east, on the left hand side. Opposite a building that today advertises "pole dancing" fitness.
